| History | Taikyoku Nidan is the second of the Taikyoku beginner series. The Taikyoku kata were created by Gichin Funakoshi in the 1930s, with Yoshitaka (Gigo) Funakoshi playing a significant role in their development. They were designed to teach fundamental techniques, stances, and movement patterns to beginners — simpler in structure than the Heian series. Three forms (Shodan, Nidan, Sandan) are officially recognised, with Nidan and Sandan introducing minor variations to develop the student progressively. |
