| History | Taikyoku Sandan is the third of the officially recognised Taikyoku series. The Taikyoku kata were created by Gichin Funakoshi in the 1930s as introductory forms designed to teach fundamental techniques, stances, and movement patterns to beginners. Yoshitaka (Gigo) Funakoshi is widely credited as the co-creator and played a significant role in the development of the forms as practised today. The series was later adopted and modified by Masutatsu Ōyama for Kyokushin karate. |
