Wadō-ryū Kata

Wadō-ryū does not have a separate set of original kata. Instead, it practises a set of kata closely related to those of Shōtōkan, retaining the original Okinawan names rather than the names introduced by Gichin Funakoshi. The techniques and execution reflect Wadō-ryū’s characteristic emphasis on evasion and body shifting (tai sabaki).
